Robots Have Already Taken over These Jobs

robot job takeover

Imagine a world where robots have entered the workforce, a world where are robots taking over jobs across a number of industries. In reality, this world isn’t difficult to imagine, because it’s the one we already live in. The robots are here, and they taking over more and more jobs. The following represents just a few industries in which robots have already gotten a foothold.

Pepper at the Smithsonian

The robot Pepper, a creation of Softbank Robotics, has become a new attraction and worker at the Smithsonian museum. Pepper dips, plays music for patrons and can also take selfies. As an attractive addition to the Smithsonian, Pepper has a shiny, white body and stands around four-feet tall. Pepper’s body guards protect the robot from harm by visitors while Pepper’s internal software prevents the robot from being hacked.

Banking with Robots

CCB, China’s second largest banking chain, has recently installed a fully robotic staffed bank in Shanghai. Aside from a single human guard, the bank is run by robots. They open accounts, make transactions and keep costs relatively low for the CCB chain. Some believe this is truly the future of banking.

Robot Delivery Service

The Intuit campus has been touched by Starship’s robotic delivery service, and this time humans are definitely out of the picture. Robots frequenting the canteena obtain and deliver food and beverages to fulfill orders placed by users of Starships mobile app. While the limited scope of food and beverage delivery on a corporate campus is impressive, it opens the door to more complex delivery options that involve a much wider range of products. This is just one more example of robots taking over jobs once filled by humans.

Spyce is Cooking with Robotics

A Boston restaurant named Spyce has gone ahead with using robots to cook for their customers. This means you could be in and out in three minutes with your order. Just decide what you want on the restaurant’s touch screen ordering station and the robots in the kitchen will jump into action.

Kiva Robots at Amazon

When it comes to one of the world’s largest retailers keeping up with demand, outfitting its warehouses with Kiva Robots helps to make the retail giants order volume maintain a high rate of fulfillment. With more Kiva robots being used in Amazon’s distribution warehouses, this will require less of a need for human workers to perform these tasks. As human labor is reduced and replaced by robotic solutions that can outpace human workers, this will inevitably cut costs for Amazon.

As more and more robots enter the job arena, they will learn to take over many common human tasks. Over time, humans will be seen as obsolete in even more industries. It is an emerging situation that has many wondering what role humans will play in the job market of the future.
